Hi, I'm Cherie - software engineer, world traveler, nature lover, and the person behind In The Park.
A few years ago, I was deep in the tech world, staring at screens all day, feeling completely disconnected from myself and everything that mattered. I was burnt out in a way I didn't even have words for yet. So I did something that felt radical at the time: I quit my job and went to Montana.
There, in a simple cabin surrounded by mountains and trees, something shifted. For the first time in years, I could breathe. I could hear myself think. I met strangers who became friends around campfires. I remembered what it felt like to be whole - not just productive, not just "on," but actually present and alive.
That cabin saved me. Nature saved me. And I knew I wanted to create that same space for other women.
I moved to Atlanta from New York City for the sunshine, the warmth, and yes - the nature. (Ironically, my last name literally means "woods" in another language, so maybe this was always meant to be my path.) Here, I found trails, parks, and a community of people who understood the healing power of slowing down and getting outside.
In The Park started as a dream: What if we could gather women who are burnt out, overwhelmed, or just craving connection - and give them a weekend to rest, create, and remember who they are outside of their to-do lists? What if we could do it in nature, where there's space to actually breathe?
So that's what we're building. Quarterly retreats where 8-10 women come together in a cozy cabin, share meals, try new things (yoga! coding! art!), and leave feeling a little more whole. Where you meet a mentor or friend who actually gets it. Where you gain the confidence to keep nurturing yourself even after you go home.
Nature and parks are where I connect to the world and listen to my internal self. It's the one place I feel at peace. It's where we started as humans, and honestly, where we return to find ourselves again. I want In The Park to be that place for you.
In my free time, I still love traveling (I've explored over 21 countries and counting!), and I'm excited to potentially grow In The Park internationally in the future. But for now, I'm focused on creating these intimate, transformative experiences right here in Atlanta - where I can personally show up, hold space, and witness the magic that happens when women give themselves permission to rest.
If any of this resonates with you, I'd love to have you join us. Whether you're burnt out, curious, lonely, or just need a reset - there's a spot for you at our table.
Let's recharge together. 🌿
